TIMELESS - Less is better. EXD 09

Transitions

The capacities of the Portuguese textile production are well known all over the world since last century serving the international design & labels. There is an immense industrial production dedicated to textiles, as well as several educational institutions devoted to textile engineering and since recently to the introduction of design in this area. However the Portuguese Textile Design is not known.

Taking in consideration the economical situation the world is facing, the following questions come to mind:
What can the added value of the design developed in Portugal bring to the textile production?
In what way this collaboration can be sustainable?

With this project I aim to reflect about Textiles. Textiles as something projected and intimately related with the industrial production, textiles that are not only a raw material, but also a product by itself, designed, manufactured and commercialized not as a final good but as a material of something else.
